Enjoy a couple’s getaway

Beaches are not just for summer. And guests at these five hotels in A Coruña, Barcelona, Lanzarote, Marseille and San Sebastián know this well. All offer picture-postcard views and unbeatable plans for a romantic trip this winter.

  1. 1 San Sebastián

    Feel like a movie star at Hotel María Cristina, a Luxury Collection Hotel in San Sebastián. This city icon has just celebrated 110 years of history and is the accommodation of choice for guests at the San Sebastián Film Festival. Since 1912, its Lobby Bar, which features contemporary interior design with Art Deco touches, is a classic, as are the cocktails at its Dry San Sebastián bar, designed by the renowned mixologist Javier de las Muelas. If the gastronomic offering in the capital is already extensive, the establishment elevates the quality at The Gallery, where chef Stefano Brunato brings a new twist to Spanish and international classics.

  2. 2 Marsella

    Located in the Old Port of Marseille, one of France’s top spots in the country’s oldest city –whose many workshops have been listed as historical monuments – Maison du Monde Hotel & Suites is the ideal destination for design lovers. It features five different styles, each with its own brand of furniture and décor inspired by Art Deco, Provence and nature, and a delicious breakfast that makes you feel at home.

  3. 3 A Coruña

    It’s no wonder that the name of the Noa Boutique Hotel means ‘rest’ in Galician. With only 32 rooms, this property – which has just won the Luxury Small Hotel Award and the World Luxury Hotel Awards – is located opposite the Santa Cruz Castle, just ten minutes from the centre of A Coruña, and offers everything you need to disconnect. The rooms are designed with natural materials and huge windows onto the Atlantic. There’s a rooftop pool and the Olas restaurant, where chef Alejandro Ares offers his extraordinary vision of local and seasonal cuisine.

  4. 4 Lanzarote

    Waking up at the Hotel Fariones – the first hotel to open on the island (in the 1960s), which has reopened as an exclusive five-star establishment in 2020 – allows you to enjoy a unique destination with the best views. Located right on the coast, the hotel has access to three beaches, and guests can see Fuerteventura and Lobos Island from their suites and the rooftop pool. It has a charming collection of ceramics by local artisans and exquisite gastronomy, with a variety of options such as El Erizo Macaronesian, the Asian Kori and La Barra Food & Drinks, with live music.

  5. 5 Barcelona

    Barcelona is reflected in the silvery façade of an iconic, ship-like building, the work of Ricardo Bofill, which houses the W Barcelona hotel, next to San Sebastián beach. You can see the sea from its 473 rooms and suites, as well as its seven terraces.
