  1. 1 You Will Inherit My Kingdom, by David López Canales

The tumultuous reign of Juan Carlos I set rivers of ink flowing both inside and beyond Spain’s borders, but only now we are truly beginning to consider how his downfall could affect the future of the Spanish monarchy. In this chronicle, David López Canales analyses the collapse of the retired monarch on the tenth anniversary of his abdication, tracing a line that connects the entire royal family and, specifically, Princess Leonor, who is destined to inherit the throne from her father King Felipe VI along with the dismal social and political legacy of her ancestors.

By accessing La Casa del Libro through the Iberia Plus Store you can accumulate more than 150 Avios thanks to this interesting chronicle about one of the most controversial royal families in the world.

  2. 2 Cuentos Verdaderos, by Rosa Montero

On 14 March, Rosa Montero releases Cuentos Verdaderos (True Stories), a compilation of the chronicles that the journalist published in the press during the 1980s, one of the most exciting decades in the history of Spain. The literary talent of Montero, who is considered one of Spain’s best contemporary storytellers, is garnished by her great insights as a journalist. The author has been at the heart of Spanish media for more than 40 years. This book is the perfect opportunity to acquire a new perspective on the Transition, as it immerses us in well-written and entertaining narratives.

  3. 3 Wonka, by Sibéal Pounder

On a date as important as International Book Day, we didn’t want to leave out the kids. For them, our recommendation is Wonka, a novel inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by author Roald Dahl and based on the screenplay of the film of the same name that has recently been released in all cinemas with great success. In this book, children will be able to enter the universe of the most famous chocolatier in fiction and relive his sweet adventures.

Older folks can also earn 120 Avios at La Casa del Libro if they access it through the Iberia Plus Store.

  4. 4 Almudena, a Biography, by Aroa Moreno Durán and Ana Jarén

Almudena Grandes was one of the greatest figures in Spanish literature and her loss left millions of readers bereft. To remember her, the writer Aroa Moreno, author of works such as The Communist’s Daughter – which Almudena Grandes herself loved – and the illustrator Ana Jarén have joined forces to publish this illustrated biography in which they uphold the memory of her work and her life and pay her a well-deserved tribute. Readers will be able to explore Almudena’s relationships with the Spain she wrote about, with the Madrid she loved dearly, with her football, with her friends (the Almudenos), with the writer Luis García Montero, with whom she shared life and poetry, and with her readers.

The most international note on this list comes from South Korea. It’s authored by the renowned writer Cho Nam-Joo, who wrote the best-seller Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982, which caused a sensation with one and a half million copies sold worldwide. Her new book contains eight stories about eight different women who range from ten to 80 years old.
