Iberia will be the world’s first airline to fly the new Airbus A321XLR
In our commitment to sustainability and innovation, we’re furthering our plans to strengthen our long-haul fleet and are the launch airline for Airbus’ new aircraft. The first A321XLR on the market will take off with Iberia after the summer, making us the first airline to operate transoceanic routes with a narrow body (single-aisle) aircraft. This will allow us to strengthen our operations with the Americas and save 30 per cent of fuel consumption compared to wide-body models.
This new model has 182 seats in the cabin and a 60 per cent increase in storage capacity for hand baggage. Business Class will have 14 single seats with a window and direct access to the aisle, as well as seats that can be converted into beds and 18-inch individual screens. The first long-haul destinations the A321XLR will fly to are Washington and Boston.
